Perilous: adj. dangerous. His mother would not let him go rock climbing, as she saw it as a perilous activity.
Portentous: adj. momentous or significant. The portentous discovery of a new mammal would change the face of biology.
Prodigal: adj. wastefully or lavishly extravangant or eccentric. He was so prodigal with money that his wife had to give him a monthly allowance.
Sullied: adj. stained, tarnished, or impure. Ever since her reputation had been sullied with rumors, she dreaded going to school.
